Cork harvest planning and climate: High air humidity favors availability of airborne inoculum of Diplodia corticola

نویسندگان

چکیده

The canker disease caused by Diplodia corticola is one of the most important emerging pathologies cork oak (Quercus suber) in western Europe. fungus dispersed borer insects, although it also thought that spores can be wind and rain. aim this study was to evaluate presence airborne inoculum D. managed stands during harvesting season. Semi-passive spore traps were set eight sampling plots Catalonia (north-eastern Spain) summer 2020. Traps replaced every week number corticolas per event estimated based on a specific nested-qPCR protocol. Spatial-temporal distribution accumulation along areas analyzed using generalized additive models (GAMs). availability resulted rather low with noticeable peaks some sampled areas. fitted GAM revealed positive effect high air humidity period spores. This represents first attempt model release pathogen, provides insights for developing control strategies precise timing operations.

Diplofuranones A and B, two further new 4-monosubstituted 2(3H)-dihydrofuranones produced by Diplodia corticola, a fungus pathogen of cork oak

Two new 4-monosubstituted 2(3H)-dihydrofuranones, named diplofuranones A and B, were isolated from liquid cultures of Diplodia corticola, a plant pathogenic fungus causing a canker disease of cork oak (Quercus suber L.). The same fungus also produces several metabolites such as the diplopyrone, the (3S,4R)-transand the (3R,4R)-cis-4-hydroxymellein, the sapinofuranone B and its (S,S)-enantiomer,...

High relative humidity pre-harvest reduces post-harvest proliferation of Salmonella in tomatoes.

Outbreaks of human illness caused by enteric pathogens such as Salmonella are increasingly linked to the consumption of fruits and vegetables. Knowledge on the factors affecting Salmonella proliferation on fresh produce therefore becomes increasingly important to safeguard public health. Previous experiments showed a limited impact of pre-harvest production practices on Salmonella proliferation...
